COMING IN DECEMBER 2017:
DISTRIBUTOR EFFECTIVENESS STUDY

Distributors play an important role in the sales, marketing and supply chain for the companion animal practices they serve.  Brakke Consulting’s 2017 Brakke Distributor Effectiveness Study (DES) helps subscribers understand how distributors are viewed by veterinarians on both a national and regional level, enabling both distribution and manufacturer companies make better decisions.

The 2017 DES will include data on companion animal veterinarian purchasing habits; inferred distributor market shares; and distributor ratings on company attributes, field sales representative attributes, and inside sales representative attributes. Nearly a dozen national and regional distributors are included in the report.

BRAKKE CONSULTING VIEWPOINT

Several of the company announcements this week support the growing importance of nutritional supplements and basic minerals in animal protein production as the use of antibiotics declines. One acquisition moves a manufacturer closer to producers and the investment in new manufacturing facilities demonstrates the growth occurring in this growing area.

While very different businesses, we continue to believe that the lines between pharmaceutical products and nutritional products for the growth and/or health of animals will continue to narrow.  Almost every animal health pharmaceutical company has some products or even a division involved in the nutritional side of the business.  In pet food, we continue to see the increasing use of nutrition to resolve various health programs in pets. The world of animal health and nutrition is changing and we’re pleased to be participating in this change.

Have a great weekend!

Ron Brakke
