> Tyson Foods Inc. reported financial results for the fiscal year ended September 27, 2014. Sales increased 9% to $37.6 billion. Net income increased 10% to $864 million. (company website)

> Zoetis Inc. announced the reintroduction of Zoamix (zoalene), a versatile synthetic anticoccidial for the prevention and control of coccidiosis in broilers and turkeys. Formerly produced by Alpharma, Zoamix was used by the U.S. broiler and turkey industries for more than four decades before leaving the market in 2005 due to shortage of a key ingredient. > Norbrook announced it has appointed a new chief executive. Liam Nagle will take over the firm in February 2015. The company lost its founder and previous chief executive, Edward Haughey, Lord Ballyedmond, in an aviation tragedy in March of this year. Mr Nagle joins Norbrook from the Dublin-based SISK Group where he has been chief executive, and latterly chairman, of the firm's construction and healthcare businesses. (Animal Pharm)
 
> UK   Abaxis, Inc. announced the completion of a stock purchase agreement to acquire 100% of QCR & Trio Diagnostics Limited, a United Kingdom based distribution organization. Financial terms were not disclosed. (PRNewswire)
 
> UK  MSD Animal Health (Merck) announced European approval for its Porcilis PCV M Hyo vaccine, a ready-to-use single-injection combination vaccine that protects piglets against Porcine Circovirus (PCV) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infections during the fattening period. (Animal Pharm)

ANIMAL HEALTH NEWS
 
> US - TURKEY GENOME   A project launched in 2008 to map the entire turkey genome is nearing completion, with more than 95% of the genome sequence now in place, according to an announcement from the Poultry Science Assn. (PSA). Funding for the turkey genome sequencing project was provided primarily by the USDA's National Institute of Food & Agriculture Animal Genome Program. (Feedstuffs)
 
> US - RENAL DISEASE DIAGNOSTICS   Researchers from Oregon State University and other institutions have developed a new biomarker called "SDMA" that can provide earlier identification of chronic kidney disease in cats. This biomarker was able to identify the onset of kidney disease in cats on average 17 months earlier than any existing approach, and in at least one case four years earlier. The findings were published in The Veterinary Journal by researchers from OSU and IDEXX Laboratories. (AVMA SmartBrief - Phys.org)
