This study discusses the results obtained from 132 direct-mail questionnaires completed by small animal practitioners in 39 different states. Additional in-depth interviews were conducted with general practitioners, distributors, key influencers in practice, universities and other professionals in the field of animal medicine.

In addition, a review of academic and professional literature, including journals, texts and current news media was conducted to establish a basic understanding of current practices and emerging trends in new technology. Relevant industry data and statistics were also used to bring the study into commercial perspective. Finally, the information was synthesized and organized by the professionals at Brakke Consulting.
