BRAKKE CONSULTING VIEWPOINT

This week’s news covers a number of product approvals and launches from both large and small firms. Most of these product announcements are for generic products and not new innovative products to grow the market.

While there are indications from several sources that the market is growing in double digits the first few months of 2015, those estimates do not seem to match with the financial reports of the public companies that make up a large percentage of the total industry revenue. We believe that 2015 will be a growth year for the industry but continue to be concerned over the increased pricing on leading brands and generic competition. Our recently published Pet Pharmaceutical Study would indicate that value or price is driving some pet owners to the OTC markets.

Have a great weekend!

Ron Brakke
